Villa Forni Cerato’s fireplaces (1)

Two fireplaces of elegant workmanship characterize the main plan of Villa Forni Cerato. Their ornamental value has led many scholars to attribute them to #AlessandroVittoria, certainly in contact with #GirolamoForni and probably his guest in the Villa between 1576 and 1577.

Despite the current state of degradation of the two fireplaces, in particular that of the east room, where a part of the pedestal has been damaged, it is however possible to recognize the decorative motifs coming from the vocabulary of the classical orders in vogue in the 16th century.

Every spectator is astonished looking at the the grooved shaped abutment supported on sturdy lion’s paws, the entablature with architrave, the pulvined frieze and the decorated frame.
